Kasco De-icers

A Kasco de-icer circulates water to help maintain an opening in the ice. It uses a submerged propeller rather than a heating element. Performance depends on the available water temperature, water depth, weather and installation.

The goal is a controlled open-water area around the structure or location you want to protect.

A propeller de-icer moves water directly. A true dock bubbler uses compressed air released underwater to create circulation. People sometimes use “dock bubbler” to describe either system.

A Kasco can be considered for pond de-icing where the pond depth and installation conditions suit the unit. For fish ponds, the objective is usually a limited opening rather than keeping the entire pond ice-free.

Marine de-icing helps limit ice formation around selected waterfront structures. For a marina, the layout matters: slips, pilings, boat lifts and dock fingers can interrupt circulation and leave areas that need additional coverage.

Vertical placement generally creates a more circular opening. Angled placement directs flow along an area, which can suit a dock or shoreline.

Choose the orientation to cover the intended area while limiting unwanted open water. Use the mounting equipment and clearances specified for your model.

Possibly. Long docks, separate slips and large structures can require several circulation points. An obstruction may block flow even when the total area looks small enough for one unit.
